Referral Program Terms

Effective Date: July 28, 2026  ·  Last Updated: July 28, 2026  ·  Version 1.0

The Short Version

Share your link. A group that signs up through it gets their first 2 months free on any paid plan. Once they finish those free months and pay a real invoice, you get account credit worth 2 months of your plan. There's no limit on how many groups you refer. Credit reduces your future CircleUp invoices — it isn't cash and we can't pay it out. You can't refer yourself, and if the referred group's first payment is refunded or disputed we may take back any credit you haven't used yet.

These Referral Program Terms ("Program Terms") govern participation in the CircleUp referral program operated by CircleUp, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). They supplement, and do not replace, the Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service. By sharing a referral link or signing up through one, you agree to these Program Terms.

1. Who Can Participate

Every group on CircleUp receives a unique referral link. Any Admin or owner of a group may share that link. The group receiving the referral (the "Referred Group") must be a new CircleUp organization account that has not previously been attributed to another referrer.

2. Benefit to the Referred Group

A Referred Group that creates its account through a valid referral link receives its first two (2) billing cycles at no charge on whichever paid plan it selects. The discount is applied automatically when the group first subscribes to a paid plan; no code is required at checkout.

  • The benefit applies once per group and cannot be combined with another promotional discount.
  • After the two free cycles, the plan renews at its standard price unless cancelled.
  • Cancelling during the free period ends the subscription and forfeits any remaining free time.

3. Reward to the Referrer

When a Referred Group completes its free period and successfully pays its first standard invoice, the referring group (the "Referrer") receives account credit equal to two (2) months of the Referrer's plan price at the time the credit is issued.

  • Credit is issued only after that first standard invoice is paid. If the Referred Group cancels during its free period, or never pays a standard invoice, no credit is earned.
  • If the Referrer is on the Free plan when the referral converts, the reward is recorded and applied against the Referrer's first paid invoice, valued at two months of the plan they upgrade to.
  • There is no limit on the number of groups a Referrer may refer.

4. How Credit Is Applied

Credit is applied automatically to the Referrer's future CircleUp invoices, oldest credit first, with any remainder carried forward to subsequent invoices.

  • Credit has no cash value and cannot be redeemed, transferred, or paid out.
  • Credit applies only to CircleUp subscription charges. It does not apply to payment processing fees or to amounts collected by your group from its own members.
  • Credit is tied to the group account and does not transfer if the account is closed.

5. Eligibility and Fair Use

The program is intended for genuine recommendations between independent organizations. Referrals will not be credited where the Referrer and the Referred Group share an owner, an administrator account, an email address, or an organizational email domain, or where a group attempts to refer itself.

We may withhold or reverse rewards, and suspend participation, where we reasonably believe the program is being used to obtain credit other than through a genuine referral — including creating accounts for that purpose, or misrepresenting CircleUp when sharing a link. Each Referred Group may be attributed to only one Referrer, and that attribution is permanent.

6. Refunds, Chargebacks, and Reversal

If the payment that triggered a reward is refunded or charged back within sixty (60) days of the credit being issued, we may reverse that credit. Reversal is limited to credit you have not already applied to an invoice — credit that has already reduced one of your bills will not be charged back to you.

7. Taxes

You are responsible for any tax consequences of receiving referral credit. We do not provide tax advice; consult your own advisor if you are unsure how credit should be treated for your organization.

8. Changes and Termination

We may modify, suspend, or end the referral program at any time, and may change these Program Terms on a going-forward basis. Changes do not affect credit already issued to your account. If we end the program, credit already issued remains available on your account and will continue to apply to future invoices under Section 4.

9. Questions

Questions about the referral program can be sent to [email protected].
